Concert Choir Fall Concert
With the theme Songs from the Heart, the entire program features music written about singing. Representative works include Monteverdi’s Cantate Domino, Dello Joio’s dynamic A Jubilant Song, and a beautiful new piece called Flight Song written by a promising young composer, Kim André Arnesen.
“The highlight of the evening is an electrifying arrangement of Gaudete,” said Dr. Michelle Roueché, Director of Choral Studies at UMHB. “Gaudete marries an ancient medieval tune with a driving percussive rock beat, resulting in a quasi-industrial groove anthem. We are honored that Dr. Stephen Crawford and his Percussion Ensemble will collaborate with us on this exhilarating piece,” Roueché continued.
Bell County choir members include Chaz Corder, Taylor Fischer, DeAundre Lewis, Matthew McKinnon, and Josie Ortiz. Students from the Leander/Cedar Park area include Justin Arnhart, Kelli Chaka, James Jones, Hannah Killough, Brennan Montgomery, and Cydney Wilkerson.
Admission is free, but seating in Manning Chapel is limited. Early arrival is strongly recommended.
