A Very Mary Hardin-Baylor Christmas - Thursday Show

Join us for our annual A Very Mary Hardin-Baylor Christmas celebration featuring the Wind Ensemble and Amahl and the Night Visitors, a one-act Christmas opera.

Amahl and the Night Visitors was commissioned by NBC and premiered as a televised operatic production on Christmas Eve 1951. It has since become one of the most popular American operas and is performed throughout the country and around the world every Christmas season.

The story tells of the journey of the Three Kings following the star to Bethlehem. They stop for shelter at the home of Amahl, a poor, disabled shepherd boy known for his tall tales, and his widowed mother. Inspired by the Wise Men's tale of a kingdom built on love alone, Amahl offers his own simple gift to the Christ Child. And then a miracle happens...
