C3 - Conversations in Christianity + Culture: What is Beauty? with Kenneth Steinbach, Michelle Westmark Wingard, and Steve Oldham
What is Beauty?
with Kenneth Steinbach, Michelle Westmark Wingard and Steve Oldham
Artists often have a complicated relationship with beauty. On one hand, they are drawn to beauty’s noble qualities. On the other, they realize that a superficial understanding of beauty can be either a means to avoid the world’s suffering or a charm that incites consumer desire. Nonetheless, the human need for beauty endures. UMHB professor Dr. Steve Oldham will be joined by artists Kenneth Steinbach and Michelle Westmark Wingard to discuss what beauty is in our lives, culture, and in our relationship with God. This panel is a compliment to the art gallery showing “The Beautiful” from the national organization Christians in the Visual Arts from January 13 - February 7.
The panel discussion is scheduled for January 21, 2020, 4:00 PM in Baugh Performance Hall, Sue & Frank Mayborn Performing Arts Center.
Admission is free and does not require a ticket.
FAE credit will be provided for all UMHB students who satisfy attendance requirements. Please consult the FAE syllabus for more information.
