Chapel Service - Dr. Sanfrena Britt
About this Event
1002 Moore Avenue, Belton, TX 76513
Dr. Sanfrená A. Britt was born in the midst of the Civil Rights Movement, in the heart of the south, to Creole and Creek (Muskogee) parents. She was a ward of the state of Alabama after the state removed her from her mother’s custody and raised by her paternal great-grandmother.
Dr. Britt married the love of her life, Timothy J. Britt, I, and their quiver is filled with four children and 10 grandchildren. Both she and her husband served proudly in the US Army and their service in the military is how they became Texan over 40 years ago.
Dr. Britt’s passion for people began when she was four years old when she began helping those in her community who needed care and compassion. Trips to the corner store, keeping the elderly company on their front porches, and making treats for her neighbors were her ways of showing loving kindness. She learned early that love is the one gift that when returned brings joy and when re-gifted brings exponential illumination of the trueness of purpose. Her life has been dedicated to leaving the world better than she found it.
Dr. Britt’s educational journey began with psychology, and she holds three degrees including a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology, which is how she began her career as a Licensed Professional Counselor. She complete her doctorate in Educational Administration in Higher Education and she is currently the director for Kingdom Diversity in the inaugural office here at UMHB. She has served in the field of education and diversity and belonging, for more than 35 years.
The drive of understanding “WHY?” motivates her dedication to understanding “HOW?” and her thirst for knowledge has been and continues to be an insatiable need for a life-long love of learning.
