Chapel - Angela Reed
Dr. Angela Reed came to Truett in Fall 2010 from Princeton Theological Seminary where she completed a Ph.D. in Practical Theology. Dr. Reed also has an M.Div. degree from the University of Winnipeg and B.A. and B.Th. degrees from Canadian Mennonite University in Manitoba, Canada. She teaches on various aspects of Christian spiritual formation, discipleship, and pastoral care, and she leads a two-year training program in spiritual direction.
In the last several years, Dr. Reed has engaged in research and writing on a variety of topics, including spiritual direction and prayer in congregations, assessing spiritual formation in seminaries, and pastoral care and mental health. Dr. Reed’s first book, Quest for Spiritual Community: Reclaiming Spiritual Guidance for Contemporary Congregations, was published in 2011. Her second book, Spiritual Companioning: A Guide to Protestant Theology and Practice, was written together with her mentors, Dr. Richard Osmer and Dr. Marcus Smucker. They received the Dallas Willard Center book award for 2016.
Dr. Reed's passion for spiritual formation and church life extends beyond academics to the practical. She worked in youth and young adult ministry for several years in Manitoba, Canada. She continues to be involved in various ministries, including retreat leadership, guest speaking, and spiritual direction with individuals and groups.
