College of Christian Studies Forum with Suzii Paynter March

Suzii Paynter March is a graduate of Baylor University, with a lifetime of experience in organizational leadership and public advocacy. In September 2019, Suzii became executive director of Prosper Waco, a local nonprofit using the principles of collective impact to build an environment in which all members of our Waco community are able to measurably improve their education, health, and financial security.
Suzii has a background in education at the secondary and higher education levels. She has taught at Baylor University and Stephen F Austin University. She has held executive leadership roles with the Baptist General Convention of Texas, Southwest Educational Development Laboratory, the Christian Life Commission, Pastors for Texas Children and as CEO of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Through these endeavors and her affiliations with many other associations and groups, she has worked as an advocate and policy expert on issues ranging from education to human trafficking, poverty to prison reform. Suzii’s recent work with Pastors for Texas Children has been recognized for advancing education funding in the 2019 legislative session. For ten years, she led advocacy efforts for which she was awarded NonProfit Lobbyist of the Year at the Texas Legislature for multiple years.
She has been honored as a distinguished alumnus of Baylor University by the Baylor Line Foundation and holds an honorary doctorate from Dallas Baptist University. Her personal honors include the J.M.Dawson Award for Religious Liberty, recognition for her work in ethics, her leadership in cross-cultural impact, her effectiveness in international missions and her work in developing women’s leadership. In addition to her Baylor and doctorate degrees, Suzii holds a master’s degree in education from Stephen F. Austin University.

She is married to another outstanding Baylor alumnus and long-time resident of Waco, Ben March. They are parents to 4, grant parents to 7 (one of whom is a 5th generation Baylor student this year. Sic ‘em) They are renovating homes near downtown Waco.
